Jessica Plattner has been teaching in the Art and Design program at MHC since 2014. She earned a BFA from Washington University School of Fine Art in St. Louis, and an MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Temple Rome, Italy. Artist residencies include Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, The Vermont Studio Center, SACI (Studio Art Centers International) and a Fulbright Scholarship in Mexico. Recent exhibitions include “On the Surface: Jessica Plattner and Jen Pankratz” at Gallery@501 in Sherwood Park, Alberta, and “The Other Life” at Art Center East Main Gallery in La Grande, Oregon. Previous solo exhibitions were held at the ASA Gallery in Calgary, the Art Gallery of St. Albert, the Okotoks Art Gallery, and the Esplanade Art Gallery. Her work is held in the public collections of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA), the City of St. Albert, the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre, as well as several college collections in Canada and in the USA. When she is not teaching, Jessica can be found painting in her studio, walking her dog, or trying to learn French on Duolingo.
